UNDERSTANDING OUR CHARGES

Service Fees

A fixed service fee is charged for every job. This fee covers vehicle and fuel costs, administration expenses, and compliance with health and safety regulations.

Labour Charges

We charge a minimum of one hour for all jobs, regardless of the actual time spent. This is because each job must be scheduled with at least a one-hour booking. If the job is completed in less than an hour, the one-hour minimum still applies.

Labour time includes more than just time spent on-site. It encompasses travel to your location, investigation and testing, sourcing of parts or fittings, carrying out the repair or replacement, updating our job system via mobile devices, and necessary administration and health and safety tasks.

Mileage

The first 20 kilometres of travel from our office at 32 Eyre Street, Feilding, are included in the service fee. Any travel beyond 20 kilometres will incur an additional per-kilometre charge. This includes travel to your location and return to our office, if the total travel exceeds 20 kilometres. This mileage charge does not apply to jobs located in immediate Palmerston North area.

GENERAL TERMS

Care and Existing Fixtures

We take care to minimise damage when removing or replacing existing fixtures and fittings. However, in cases where removal is not possible without causing damage, Uneeda Plumber is not responsible for the resulting repairs. If required, we are happy to organise repairs on your behalf, which will be charged to you.

Insurance Claims

We understand that some plumbing jobs may be covered under your home insurance policy. Most insurance policies, however, only cover the repair of resulting damage and not the repair of the underlying cause. We can provide a written report for your insurance company upon request, but any work completed must be paid in full before the report is issued. Reimbursement must be handled directly between you and your insurance provider.

Client-Supplied Fixtures and Fittings

Uneeda Plumber typically supplies fixtures and fittings and keeps a range of standard items in stock. If a client chooses to supply their own products and requests us to install them, we accept no responsibility if the item does not fit, is incompatible, or fails to meet requirements. In the event of a product failure, the client is responsible for managing any warranty claims directly with the manufacturer, including covering any associated costs.

We recommend that all fixtures and fittings be supplied through Uneeda Plumber. We are happy to assist you in choosing appropriate products.

Warranty

If a fixture supplied by Uneeda Plumber is found to be faulty and is covered under the manufacturer’s warranty, we will manage the warranty claim process on your behalf.

Free Quotes

We offer free quotes, including site visits, for clients located within 20 kilometres of Feilding or within the Palmerston North area. For locations beyond this area, a travel and labour charge will apply.

Photos

To assist in accurate scheduling and job assessment, we encourage clients to email us photos of the job where possible. This helps our office staff allocate the appropriate time and resources to your request.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

WHEN DOES OUR BILLABLE TIME START?

Billable time begins when our technician departs to attend your job. This may include travelling directly to your property or collecting any equipment, materials, or specialist tools required to complete the work. If the technician is travelling from our workshop, billable time starts when they leave the workshop.

Billable time concludes once work has been completed, all required job documentation has been finalised, and our technician has departed your property. In some cases, equipment, materials, or hired plant may need to be returned to our workshop or supplier before the job can be fully closed out. Where this applies, billable time will end once these tasks have been completed.

The more information you can provide, the more efficiently we can assist you. A clear description of the issue, along with photos where possible, helps us send the right technician with the right tools and materials for the job. This can reduce diagnosis time, minimise repeat visits, and help keep costs down.

You can send photos and details via email, text message, Facebook, or Instagram—whatever is most convenient for you. Our goal is to make communication simple and ensure your issue is resolved as quickly and cost-effectively as possible.

We’re happy to visit your site, review your project, or price work from supplied plans.

For smaller jobs (typically under $500 + GST), we generally work on a charge-up basis. For larger projects such as hot water cylinder replacements or renovations, we’re happy to provide a detailed quote before work begins.

Our pricing reflects more than just the time spent on-site. It includes fully qualified and licensed plumbing, gasfitting, and drainlaying professionals, dedicated office staff who answer phones, schedule jobs, and support our customers, as well as specialised tools and equipment, vehicle and travel costs, and the systems we use to deliver a reliable service.

Our team uses industry-leading equipment and cloud-based job management software to accurately record job details, photos, and documentation, helping ensure quality workmanship, clear communication, and efficient service from start to finish.
